Legal Cashier – Vacancy

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Legal Cashier to join us in our central Exeter office.

The successful applicant will undertake an array of duties, including:

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and execution of all client and office account transactions
  • Identify costs (disbursements) payable to vendors based on cash received from clients
  • Dealing with general queries and issues relating to accounts
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Cheque payments
  • VAT and other statutory returns
  • Purchase ledgers
  • Credit control
  • Ensuring SAR and all other statutory compliance
  • Weekly and monthly reports
  • Budget preparation
  • Management reports
  • Coordination of all vendor payments
  • Dealing with old client balances
  • Checking completion statements
  • Allocating and posting incoming payments
  • Allocating and posting searches
  • Posting time and disbursement transfers and write offs
  • Administrative duties, including dealing with petty cash
  • Other accounts duties as required

The Candidate

  • Legal cashiers with a minimum of 3 years’ law firm experience
  • Possess knowledge and experience of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Has the ability to prioritise own workload effectively
  • Highly numerate with a keen eye for detail
  • Demonstrates outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team
  • Strong IT literacy (Excel, Outlook)

Reporting to and working closely with the Practice Manager, partners lawyers and support staff this is an exciting opportunity for someone with the relevant skills and experience who wants to work in a great office environment in an award winning boutique law firm, or someone who is looking to take the next step in their career progression.

Salary – Competitive

Hours – Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:15

Holiday – 25 days plus one discretionary day over Christmas
